Teams
Teams will consist of a minimum of two (2) Primary players. The team’s two Primary players will be the default players each week. After registering the two primary players, teams may also send details for an “Alternate” player to the Tournament Manager. Players identified as an “Alternate” can only play for the team they have been assigned to. All teams can also utilize “Substitute” players any given week, where “Substitute” players are not assigned to a specific team and can sub in for any team during the season. Any player with a valid RHGC handicap but not a Primary or Alternate member of a team that is already in the league can be utilized as a substitute.
If a team intends to play their alternate player, or a substitute player is required for any team, this must be declared by close of business on the Monday before the scheduled Tuesday game to allow time for Tournament Manager to update GG.
There will be no limit as to how many matches a primary, alternate or substitute player may or may not play during the course of the league.
League Schedule & Points
A Team will earn 1pt for a win and 0.5pts for a halve. In the event teams are tied at the end of the league, rankings will be determined by the team with the best head-to-head record, then by the team with the least loses, followed by the team with the most number of wins. If teams still can’t be separated, teams will share their position in the division.
Rescheduling
It will be the responsibility of the individual teams to reschedule any match that can’t be played at the scheduled time. If one team is unable to reschedule (as they are available at the originally scheduled date/time), then the team wishing to reschedule has three (3) options:
- Find a substitute player if it's only one player on a team that isn't able to play at the originally scheduled date/time (preferred option)
- If one player on a team can still play (and no substitute can be found), it is strongly recommended that the match be played. The person who did show up plays each other player on the other team separately. Thus, one player is playing two separate matches and counts the points and handicaps as in a typical one-on-one match. If one player from each team does not show, then the points are doubled for each hole.
- Forfeit the match
If you are unable to make your scheduled tee time, please advise the Coordinator (David Bedford) by email (david.bedford@aramco.com) by close of business Monday, in order to make the necessary adjustments in Golf Genius and make the necessary tee times adjustments in ForeTees.
Any matches not played by 23.59 on Saturday 15th March will be forfeited by the team deemed not to have been able to field a team. If a consensus is not reached between the teams as to what team could not field a team, the Coordinator will make a ruling and this ruling will be final.
Format Explained
The format is hole by hole match play, so it is appropriate to concede the hole at any time to assist with pace-of-play.
Fourball Betterball: Fourball Betterball is a match between two teams of two players (a total of four balls being played, hence the name) against each other using better-ball scoring.
All four players play their own ball throughout; at the end of each hole, the lowest nett score between the two partners on each team is that team's score. For example, Players A and B form one team. On the first hole, A scores a net 5, B scores a net 6, so the team score is net 5.
TEE Boxes
BLUE DIVISION will play from the blue tees for men and yellow tees for ladies.
WHITE DIVISION will play from the white tees for men and red tees for ladies.
Handicaps
Handicaps are calculated using the Handicap Index of the players as at 9am on the day of play.
Fourball Betterball:
All players receive ninety (90) percent of their RHGC 9-hole handicap. After the handicap allowance of 90% is applied, the Playing Handicap of all four players is reduced by the Playing Handicap of the player with the lowest Playing Handicap, who then plays from scratch.
Each of the three other players is allowed 100 percent of the difference.
The lowest handicap player plays off scratch and all other players utilize a handicap equal to the differential of their playing handicap and the playing handicap of the lowest handicapped player.
Reporting Match Results
Golf Genius should be utilized during the course of play.
However, in the event Tournament Manager is not working or can’t be used for some reason, teams should calculate their handicaps for the match and report the result of the match by email to david.bedford@aramco.com without delay.
Disputes
Where a match is played and concluded and the players return to the clubhouse, the match results remain as agreed at that time. This includes situations where there is a later dispute as to one player utilizing an incorrect handicap or where a rules infraction is recognized at a later time. If in doubt as to what the ruling or procedure should be, then do not agree to the outcome at the end of the match prior to returning to the clubhouse.
