Converting to the new World Handicap System will take time, as there are RHGC database issues.
The World Handicap System officially became effective January 1. The conversion from the old system to the new system has not gone smoothly. The USGA database for our golf course has the wrong par information for the men’s tees thus the handicap calculation for RHGC through GHIN is incorrect for the men only (the women’s tees have correct par information). Furthermore, the hole-by-hole scoring is not setup yet for RHGC. The Texas Golf Association (TGA) has been sent the correct information; however, it is expected to take some time to fix the problem, as there are likely many clubs in the same situation.
The new WHS formula has added a par component to the calculation and this is why the men’s conversion from Handicap Index to RHGC handicaps are wrong: (HI*Slope/113) + (Course Rating-Par)
While the system is being fixed, please reference the Handicap reports on the RHGC website (current Handicap reports will be uploaded to the website later today) to look up your RHGC handicap. These will continue to be published the middle and end of the month.
The new WHS has replaced equitable stroke with the adjusted gross score. The USGA strongly recommends hole-by-hole score entry, however, players will have to enter their 9 and 18 hole scores while the system is being fixed.
- Adjustment of hole scores
- Maximum hole score for Handicap purposes after a player has established a Handicap Index: the maximum score is limited to a net double bogey (par of the hole + 2 strokes + handicap strokes player received on the hole based on the hole stroke index)
- Maximum hole score for Handicap purposes before a player has established a Handicap Index: the maximum score is limited to par + 5 strokes
Reminder to update the GHIN app before posting your scores, in some instances, the user may have to remove the old GHIN app and reinstall it fresh. Please use the GHIN app to enter your scores.
The single most important change to your Score Posting will be that you must make every effort to post your score IMMEDIATELY (same day) after the round is complete.
With the new WHS your HC will be calculated daily and will include a “Playing Condition Calculation” that counts on everyone submitting their scores the same day they play. Please help the RHGC Handicaps to be as accurate as possible by doing your part and submitting your scores the same day you play
