Good Morning All,
The RHGC has bad news, the course is officially closed. We do not know when it will be reopened. I can say that we will continue to work closely with DHCS to ensure that the course is managed and maintained and when we are clear from this pandemic we will open stronger than ever.
I want to applaud the hard work done by the RHGC board and its volunteers to keep the course open. It was an uphill battle from the start and I only hope that you can appreciate all that was done.
As the President, I believe this was inevitable. Even with all of our provisions (cups, sand, flags, social distancing) golf courses in the region and around the world have started closing as this pandemic simply requires isolation to flatten the curve and slow down the spread of this disease.
The Board will use this time to:
- Recharge the batteries and prepare for the summer and fall events should we get the call that we are open.
- Implement the cashless systems and get all our staff trained and ready to go.
- Retool the calendar and prioritize events once this pandemic is over.
- Continue to work with Jason Sexton on the Phase 3 course development (waste areas, tree planting, beautification, and bunker faces)
- Bring the new handicap director up to speed on the WHS.
- Work on our Monthly newsletter and website as a place to gain information
- Members Roles and Responsibilities (more to come on this in my April Newsletter).
Please be safe and if the board gets any new information, we will share it accordingly.
Regards,
Ed Devlin, RHGC President
